Our Market

Our resort style communities serve four distinct markets:

  1. Maintenance free housing for Active Adults 55+
  2. Supportive Housing, offering a wide variety of hospitality services
  3. Assisted Living options that offer more care when needed
  4. Residential Care offering full time medical care

Traditionally, older adult housing has been based on an institutional "medical" model more commonly known as a "nursing home" - an environment focused on keeping people safe that has little consideration for the human spirit. This type of institutional living isolates aging adults from their community and is responsible for the negative stigma attached to older adult housing today.

Currently the seniors housing industry on the Island offers a range of housing options from publicly funded rental housing to luxurious developments offering endless amenities; all of which segregate elders from other members of society. By looking at aging differently and listening to the needs and wants of older adults, we are able to provide fulfilling and innovative housing solutions for the future.

Vancouver Island

Having long been one of the most desirable retirement locations in North America, Vancouver Island is confronted with the challenge of providing solutions for the inevitable issues a new age demographic will pose. The demand for aging adult housing on Vancouver Island is increasing and will continue to increase for the next twenty five years. The "Senior's Housing Market Survey", completed by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation released in 2008 reports a 0.9% vacancy rate in independent seniors housing over all of Vancouver Island.

Vancouver Island is well ahead of provincial and national averages with Qualicum having 1.64 in four adults over the age of 65 and Parksville being a close second at 1.34 in four. Both Victoria and Nanaimo had about one in five in 2006 (Stats Canada).
